Day by Day Program
Day 1: Arrive Nairobi, Kenya
Jambo na Karibu! With a warm Swahili welcome upon your arrival, you'll be transferred to your boutique hotel on the outskirts of Nairobi. Spend the rest of your day as you please. Overnight at the Hemmingways Nairobi.
Day 2: Nairobi / Amboseli National Park
Your safari takes off with a flight to Amboseli National Park. Upon checking into your well-appointed tented camp, meet your expert ranger for an afternoon game drive. Capture panoramic photos of some of Africa's largest elephants as they amble through the grasslands with the snowcapped Mt. Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. Cap off your day with traditional sundowners as you marvel at views of Africa's highest mountain glowing in the twilight. (BLD) Overnight at the Elewana Tortilis Camp.
Day 3: Amboseli National Park
Rise with dawn's early light for your game drive - you may catch up with the big cats, sated after their night hunt. Watch for wildebeest, zebra, impala and warthogs and see how many of the 300 species of birds you can spot. Tonight, unwind and be mesmerized by the dazzling blanket of stars. Day 4: Amboseli / Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
Fly north to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Arrive at your camp in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive in search of the unique species found in this region including the Grevy zebra and reticulated giraffe. (BLD) Overnight at the Elewana Lewa Safari Camp.
Day 5: Lewa Wiildlife Conservancy
Start the day with an early morning game drive in the quiet serene wilderness. Perhaps you'll come upon a cheetah snuggling with her cubs or a herd of gerenuk browsing in the foliage. Before your afternoon game drive, laze poolside and take in the views of wildlife lingering nearby. (BLD) Overnight at the Elewana Lewa Safari Camp.
Day 6: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy / Masai Mara
Your adventure continues as you take wing to the Masai Mara, Kenya's premier game reserve. Your traditional safari camp is located along the Sand River, where over a million wildebeest and zebra make their migration crossing every year. With your camera gear ready, meet your expert rangers and take off on a game drive across the reserve's tree-flecked grasslands. You’ll be amazed by the herds of plains game, elephants and a wide variety of other animals and birds. (BLD) Overnight at the Elewana Sand River Masai Mara Camp.
Day 7: Masai Mara
Awaken with the animals to join your morning game drive. Keep a lookout for the black-maned lion, leopards and cheetahs returning from their night hunt. Explore the bends of the traversing river where hippos and crocodiles spread out in their favorite feeding grounds. This afternoon, set out for a second game drive. Day 8: Masai Mara
Spend the day enjoying various game viewing activities. Perhaps greet the sunrise with an optional hot air balloon ride, or visit a traditional Maasai homestead and learn more about their cattle-based culture. After dinner, gather around the campfire and share your favorite wildlife photos with your safari companions. (BLD) Overnight at the Elewana Sand River Masai Mara Camp.
Day 9: Masai Mara / Arusha, Tanzania.
Cross the border with a flight to Arusha, where you’ll be met on arrival and transferred to your lodge, a peaceful retreat tucked within a large coffee plantation. Relax and explore as you please. (BLD) Overnight at the Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge.
Day 10: Arusha / Lake Manyara.
Explore magical Lake Manyara, with seasonal pink-hued flamingos lining its shore and some 400 species of birds. Your ranger will diligently seek out the park’s fabled tree-climbing Manyara lions and blue monkeys to round out your photo gallery. Continue on to your beautiful lodge near the Ngorongoro Crater. Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater.
Descend some 2,000 feet to explore Ngorongoro's sprawling crater floor. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this unique biosphere has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. The crater is home to numerous herds of elephants, large prides of lions, leaping gazelles, and countless zebras and wildebeest. Watch the amusing antics at the hippo pool. After dinner, be awed by the equatorial constellations as they illuminate the endless sky. (BLD) Overnight at the Elewana Ngorongoro Manor Lodge.
Day 12: Ngorongoro / Depart.
After a short flight to Arusha, you'll enjoy lunch and a place to relax at a reserved hotel day room until transferring to the airport for your onward arrangements. (B)
